Meet at the Skyforge for the funeral. When asked, get the last fragment of Wuuthrad from Kodlak's dresser and return it to the Eorlund at the Skyforge. Meet up with the Circle in the Underforge and after a discussion where Eorlund sets things straight, you will set off for Ysgramor’s Tomb in order to remove Kodlak’s beast spirit.

When you get to Ysgramor's Tomb, give Wuuthrad back to the statue of Ysgramor. This will open a door behind the statue. Go through that door and the webs all over. You’ll have to kill a couple of skeevers in this tunnel. At the end, you’ll come to a set of double doors and behind that will be the beginning of a tomb. Be ready to fight some tough ghosts. The melee warriors aren’t too bad but the archers are just terrible. Make liberal use of your shouts and whatever cover you can find. Remember that you have two companions with you here so let them do some of the heavy lifting.

The next room is far worse than the last one. The first enemy you see will be rather easy to take down and where it spawned will be a leveled chest of goodies. Turn right and you will see the difficult part of this section. At the end of this room are a few archers that do a good amount of damage. Use your shouts to get close or shoot them with a bow from cover. Be careful here and move slowly. Just stay alive rather than playing aggressive here because if you don’t, you’ll be dead before you know it.

When you get to the end of the room, Farkas will part ways with you because of all the spider webs. It seems he’s developed a case of arachnophobia. Continue on with Aela. Cut through the webs and be ready to fight. Immediately on the other side will be a bunch of Frostbite spiders. If you need to, back up into the previous room. More devastating than their melee attacks are going to be all the poison spit they’re throwing around so stay clean and use cover. These spiders shouldn’t pose much of a challenge.

The next group of spiders might though. When you enter the next room, you will be attacked by three smaller Frostbite spiders. Once they are dead, a giant Frostbite spider will fall into the room. Keep your wits about you because this spider is actually a pushover. In fact, use Unrelenting Force and it will fall backwards, allowing you to kill it with ease. Remember to loot the room, particularly the chest on the platform to the right of your exit. To open the gate, pull the chain to the left of it.

You will enter some catacombs which may have some ghosts in them. Make your way through the numerous ghosts and down through the catacombs. You’ll exit the catacombs when you pass an embalming table and enter a small tunnel. This will empty into a larger tunnel and at the end will be a pedestal with a switch on it. Activate the switch and go through the door behind you and to your left.

This room can be kind of difficult because there isn’t a whole of cover in the room but there are a few archers. Try to find whatever you can for cover or keep moving. This is your ultimate test for the companions so don’t be concerned if it’s a little tough. Kill the ghosts in here and climb the stairs at the back of the room. Go through it to find Kodlak.

Talk to Kodlak and he will tell you to toss one of the witch heads onto the fire. When you do this, Kodlak’s beast spirit will separate itself from his body and you will have to fight it. The wolf will hit very hard but it’s a strictly melee beast. If you are quick, sometimes you can deal a significant amount of damage before it’s even fully materialized. Once it is dead, talk to Kodlak and he will name you the new Harbinger of the Companions. Go up the ramp to your right, loot the Boss Chest at the top and exit to the right of the chest. Hit the chains to open the doors as you go and when you get to the beginning of the tomb, talk to Farkas and Vilkas.
