Although Skyrim is one Kingdom, it is split into nine different Holds, each with a capital city which is the seat of the Jarl, or Lord, who rules that Hold. Each Hold is largely autonomous, but all must swear fealty to the High King.
Points of interest in Skyrim include large cities, smaller towns, Dwarven ruins and the enormous mountain known as the Throat of the World.
