Winterhold is a small town located in North-Eastern Skyrim, and is the capital of the hold of the same name. It was once a large city, but an enormous tidal wave destroyed most of it near the beginning of the Fourth Era. Winterhold's sole notable attraction is the College of Winterhold, Skyrim's foremost mage college. It is held responsible for the destruction of Winterhold, but maintains that this was caused by an earthquake.
