The Rift is a hold located in southeast Skyrim, with its capital in Riften. It is controlled by the Stormcloaks, but can be captured by the Imperial Legion as part of the Civil War Quest Line.

The Rift borders Morrowind and Cyrodiil and is separeted from the rest of Skyrim by cliffs and mountain like the legendary Throat of the World. It hold two large lakes and autumnal forests.

The Jarl of the Rift is Laila Law-Giver.
